North East Lib Dem regional conference took place today and Gateshead were the hosts. The gathering took place in the Little Theatre in Saltwell.The main session in the morning was a Q&A with Ed Davey online. He also talked about the forthcoming general election campaign and the success of the Lib Dems in the region in the local elections this year.In the afternoon, there was an awards ceremony.

Leicester East has not been lucky in its choice of Labour MPs, as the disgraced Keith Vaz gave way to the disgraced Claudia Webbe. Now, reports the Leicester Mercury, the party has named a short list of two from which its candidate at the next election. The two are Rajesh Agrawal, who is is the deputy mayor of London for business under Sadiq Khan, and Rishi Madlani, a Camden councillor who claims strong links to Leicester. Losing the plot

In light of the appalling record of this government in tackling homelessness and delivering social and affordable housing, the proposal by home secretary, Suella Braverman to legislate to restrict the use of tents by homeless people in built-up areas seems rather crass. In fact, crass is maybe too charitable a word. Sky News reports that the home secretary's proposals are said to include allowing charities to be fined if they give out tents that become a nuisance: Ms Braverman wants the plans included in two clauses of a new criminal justice bill, according to The Financial Times, quoting Whitehall sources. ...

Dundee has a new recycling chat bot! Tell it what you would like to recycle for information on where or how to recycle it and the bot will give advice! This is a new system from Sustainable Dundee, so there may be things you are trying to recycle that the bot doesn't know about yet, but that information will feed in to improving the system.
