Wandering around Braunston a couple of weeks ago, I thought of Running Scared, the lost David Hemmings film that was shot there. Released in 1972, that was his first film as director, But there was another Hemmings project from the Seventies that is never seen. The Bowie Bible explains: The London concerts were also filmed, and were to be part of Stage, a planned 90-minute documentary on Bowie's Isolar II tour. Bowie and director David Hemmings hoped to have the film in cinemas later in 1978, but it was still unfinished in early 1979. ... According to Hemmings, "At the ...

There were 3 principal council by-elections this week. One on Tuesday and two more on Thursday. We start off with the fantastic Liberal Democrat win in Maidstone Central ward on Kent County Council. In a super-marginal ward, newly elected Councillor Chris Passmore and the Lib Dem team were able to fight off strong challenge from the Green Party. Congratulations to Chris and the team for such a hard-fought and well-deserved win. It was very close with just 11 votes in it. Every door knocked on, and every bit of literature delivered really counted! The campaign also received a fighting fund ...

Lee Dargue says legalising and regulating currently illegal drugs would bring us benefits in all sorts of areas. Politicians (and press officers) are always after policies that that can easily explain, that will attract the public, and bring tangible results. How about a policy that will reduce: crime (organised criminal gangs (OCGs), violent and sexual crime, burglary, theft, car crime), the number of knives and guns on our streetsstreet gangsthe exploitation of people of all ages (including via 'county lines')health harms (to people and public health), thus reducing the strain on our health and care services. whilst also increasing: liberty ...

The revised parliamentary boundaries have been ratified by Westminster. Rhos will be in the expanded Brecon constituency at the next general election. In the meantime, bus travellers have complaints against Westminster, the Welsh Labour/Plaid government and the Neath Port Talbot county borough council over cuts to bus subsidies and therefore reduced services. So Neath party members are encouraged to join this leaflet distribution.

Our last PM but one cropped up this week performing a fake snore in an interview when he was asked about the details of his downfall. The country though, is not snoring, but still reeling from the unstable government and moral vacuum he represented. The Partygate scandal and select committee report have understandably concentrated on the events that Boris Johnson did attend. But in early 2022 the Daily Telegraph broke the story about two events he didn't. It emerged that there were two parties held at No 10 the night before Prince Philip's funeral. The famous "Winetime Friday" suitcase had ...

A week or so ago, I had an opportunity to Chair my first Grants Committee meeting. Not a big deal some people would say and I agree; it is not. Having said that, I felt the importance of "doing my part", which meant being well prepared and ensuring that the meeting is run smoothly (Council Officers were very helpful!) The role of the Chairperson is actual vital, in any environment or any capacity. In my opinion, this role has a lot of critical components and it requires (some examples): Good listening skills (a lot of improvement needed here in my ...

After this week's Tuesday by-election with both its unusual timing and its unusual result, Thursday saw two more principal authority council by-elections. First, a tricky Lib Dem defence in a ward that split Conservative/Lib Dem last time, with the Conservatives coming top of the poll: [IMG: 💥] Lib Dems win #Maidstone Central by-election! Over a long period, the Ryehill Health Centre car park was left barriers up over the weekend and evenings when the centre was closed which allows the local community and the church to use the car park, a great service to the community in an area with significant parking problems. Since the GP practice at the Ryehill Health Centre closed, some other NHS Tayside services still run from there. Recently the barriers have been left down, causing significant issues for nearby residents and the congregation of St Peter's Free Church. We contacted NHS Tayside and were advised by the Head ...
