Liberal Democrats in Bury are calling on the Council to step up consultation on the future of local services after the government cut Bury's budget by around £12m for the coming year. The budget, set as part of the nationwide local government settlement, will see Bury Council lose around a quarter of its budget over the next four years. Liberal Democrats have consistently campaigned against ID cards, a scheme introduced by the previous Labour Government. I am shocked by the apparent lack of action by Sefton Council regarding the snow which fell nearly a week ago in Southport. Apparently Ed Milliband, who supports the reform of the electoral system , has suggested that it would be better if Nick Clegg kept out of the referendum campaign. Top Gear

YAY they got Tiff back! BOO still no VBH or Suzi Perry, so it's still all boys. Still, I laughed so hard. So very hard. The news section was just awesome. The America film was brilliant. I loved the "Learn how to do a drive by shooting" section, although I suspect that they will get huggins of complaints about it. The cinematography is still glorious - one example was the most beautiful shot of my favourite skyscraper I have ever seen. But (you knew there was going to be a but, didn't you?) what has James done to his hair? ...

If the national media were to be believed (or Labour-led NUS for that matter) the story of the Liberal Democrats over the past 8 months has been all about tuition fees and nothing else. I would advise readers to have a look at the Party's achievements in Government so far (it runs to twelve pages). Meanwhile, let's not forget that Labour were promising cuts deeper than Thatcher's (before they lost the election): Nick Robinson's blog is a good summary.

On the 10th December I wrote that "some MPs voted with the coalition because they have ministerial responsibility". Well at least four Liberal Democrat ministers have been secretly recorded expressing their concerns for government policies. Ministers can't do this but just because they are ministers doesn't stop them having individual views, it's just that they can't express them. All ministers are individuals and all have different views if you look closely enough. The problem here is that undercover agents of the press have uncovered their weaknesses.
