Job for the Slob

Scheduled up against tonight's Doctor Who themed programming on BBC Two is a reality TV show on BBC Three. Job for the Slob is on as I type. And the "slob" is my brother.

This week I have been stealling a V800

My new job at Vodafone means that I can borrow phones for the evening/weekend. I've been trying out the V800, but as I have an o2 sim card, and we have no 3G Vodafone signal in Lincoln, the main feature of the phone is a bit pointless. Haven't noticed anything special about it really, and am missing the functionality of my P910i.

Wales 32 Ireland 20

Magnificent! Grand Slam winners after 27 years. A wonderful display from Wales and a truly historic occasion. I am going to stop now and celebrate before I get bogged down in cliches.

Lincoln 2-0 Shrewsbury

I went to my first Lincoln game, haven't had a chance to go before as I've had conferences, family, sleep and cold weather when other matches were on. The ground is only down the road (literally) from Heather's, the game was a good one. We got to see two goals (well one, as I was reading the programme during the second). The crowd though were pretty quiet, which is odd as on some days you can even hear them from my place. Probably go again before the end of the season, and there's always the chance that Lincoln might make ...

Going to the Fleapit

I am very behind in my blog and sitting in the Fleapit using their mac to update this page. The Fleapit is a very special caff. Firstly, it only serves organic food, lager, coffee and very delicious juices. Secondly, it has a meeting room at the back which is used for film screenings. Thirdly it is run by Paul & Daniella who are inspirational people. I've viewed some of Daniella's documentaries which are raw, emotional & political. Paul's background is in Community arts. I hope this gives some flavour of what they're trying ...

Lessons from Leicester Trial (New Year's Shootings)

The lessons from the trial in Leicester are that the rules of evidence do need variation to deal with very difficult situation. In situations in which witnesses need protection against violent people we need to protect their identities. It is not possible for the police to continually give people new identities and there are so many shooting incidents that there has to be the facility for

Lonely hearts

I have commented before about the way that people use the Freedom of Information Act but this must be unique. When the Freedom of Information Act came into effect on January 1 it led to a stream of serious requests, from demands for the attorney general's advice on the war to the official papers on Black Wednesday. But what no one had counted on was Angela Wright. She saw the act as a potential way of advancing her private passion: eligible bachelors in uniform. She knew the act well and preserved her anonymity by applying (as ...

More from 2004

Dan texts to say he's spotted himself on this blog - "at last!" Fair enough, since it was over two months ago that I explained that I tend not to mentione non-blogging friends by name and he said I should feel free to name and shame him. Unfortunately, that was during my most recent phoneless period and therefore didn't get blogged.Flashback: Monday, 27 - Wednesday, 29 December 2004During that long, empty period between Christmas and New Year, Dan and I had what he termed (fairly optimistically) an "arts and crafts" week. On the Monday, we went to see John Hegley ...
